Determination of Heating Reduction of Anthraquinone (AQ)

The heating loss of anthraquinone (AQ) refers to the percentage of sample weight loss caused by volatilization, decomposition or other chemical reactions during the heating process. The following are the steps for the determination of anthraquinone (AQ) heating loss:

  1. Sample preparation: Weigh 1-2 grams of the anthraquinone sample and put it into a weighed aluminum sample boat.

  2. Hot Air Oven drying: put the sample boat into a hot Air Oven preheated to 105°C, and bake at a constant temperature for about 1 hour until the sample quality is constant.

  3. Record the initial weight: take out the sample boat, cool to room temperature, weigh the sample boat and the weight of the dried sample (called "initial weight").

  4. Heating: Put the sample boat into a high-temperature furnace preheated to 600°C with a heating rate of 10°C/min and continue heating for 2 hours.

  5. Cool and record final weight: Cool the sample in the furnace to room temperature, remove the sample boat, and weigh the boat and residue (referred to as the "final weight").

  6. Calculation of loss on heating: Calculate the loss on heating of the sample using the following formula:

  7. Heating loss (%) = (initial weight - final weight) / initial weight × 100%

Beichao reminds you: During the measurement process, the experimental conditions need to be strictly controlled to avoid the influence of impurities in the air on the results. At the same time, calibrated precision balances and hot Air Ovens should be used to ensure the accuracy and accuracy of the measurement results.
