Coating powder performance testing - Determination of storage stability

Regarding the performance testing of powder coatings, the determination of its storage stability.

Storage stability, in fact, mainly refers to the ability of the powder not to bond and maintain its original properties after being stored under special conditions, and to maintain the same properties after film formation.

(1) glass bottle method

① The instrument is equipped with glass bottles: capacity 120mL, inner diameter 40m.

Scale: sense amount 0. lrng.

Low temperature oven: (5o ± o.5) ℃ heat preservation.

Aluminum small plate, steel shot (ball), etc.

②Test procedure Weigh 45g (into a specified mass) of powder coating and pour it into a glass bottle

In the process, place an aluminum small pan on the powder coating and prepare a sufficient number of glass bottles to determine their paintability and other properties to be tested.

Weigh 15og steel shots (balls) into the small aluminum pan in the bottle and seal it. The bottle was then placed in (50±0.5)°C Incubator.

(2) Open-dish method (open-dish method)

a. Instruments and equipment Aluminum plate (diameter 50mm); constant temperature and Humidity Chamber; balance;

b. Determination step Weigh 10g of powder and pour it on an uncapped aluminum plate with a diameter of 50mm, and place it in a constant temperature and Humidity Chamber with a temperature of (40±3)°C and a relative humidity of (95°5)%. After 48 hours, test Check the change of agglomeration and gel time; according to the measured data, determine the storage stability of the powder coating.
