Determination of covering power according to standard method "CCT10086-39 Test Method 13"

In order to quickly measure the hiding power of the pigment, the method of covering the color base surface at one time can be used. Before this test, a glass plate with a size of 100 x 300 mm and a colored strip should be prepared according to the previous method. Color paint. Apply color paint on the glass plate slowly so that the thickness can completely cover the color paint, that is, when the broken glass plate placed on a white paper is observed in reflected light, the original color will not appear. The strips will not show through the paint layer.

Weigh the test panel before and after removing the paint, divide the difference obtained by the area of the removed surface, and then measure the hiding power according to the formula (1). (Related instrument: hiding power paper)

It should be pointed out that when the hiding power is determined by this method, the resulting hiding power is higher, because in this case, the hiding power is measured before the paint is dried, and the hiding power is measured before the application (by referring to more When using the method described in "Testing method for layer coverage", the hiding power of the dried paint film is measured.

The hiding power of the dried paint film is generally lower than that of the undried paint. The hiding power of the dried paint film is 40% of the hiding power of the paint.

The hiding power of the pigment is also related to the evolution of the film-forming substance. When the same pigment has different film-forming substances, the hiding power of the dried paint film may also be different.
