The instrument shown in Figure 63 is a thin plate with a size of 140x35x10 mm, through which there is a wedge-shaped four-hole with a width of 10 mm and a length of 100 mm, and the depth of the hole varies from 0 to 100 µm. There are scales engraved on the surface of the drawing tank, indicating the depth of the grooves on the entire four tanks, and a steel scraper with a slender and straight edge is attached to the steel plate.

In order to determine the fineness of grinding, put 2-4 drops of the sample in the deepest part of the drawer, and then move the scraper along the entire fourth gear.

Then place the instrument on the flow plane, and measure the thickness of the paint layer at the place where the obvious grains (aggregates, macroscopic grains, and miscellaneous particles) in the groove are obviously aggregated according to 1 degree. This thickness expressed in microns can indicate The grinding fineness of the paint, the instrument can also be used to determine the dyeing content of the enamel. In this case, in addition to a large number of aggregates, individual dispersion can also be seen in places with a large depth and thickness. For grains, as pointed out by CB Yakubovich, TH Vorogushin and AM Kazakova (THNH-4), two values can be used to indicate the foreign matter content of clear lacquer: 1) There is a large number of grains aggregated 2) It is found that the thickness of the paint layer where there are no more than 1 or 2 visible particles.
