Introduction of scraping tools

The tools used for scraping include embedded knives, spatula, horn drawdown blades, rubber drawdown blades and steel plate drawdown blades.

The embedded knife, also known as the foot knife, is a steel knife with blades at both ends, one end is oblique, and the other end is flat. The embedded knife is used to insert putty into the nail holes, insect eyes, gaps, etc. on the surface of the wood. The spatula, also known as the putty knife and the putty knife, is composed of a steel plate inlaid in a wooden handle. The specifications range from 1 inch, 2 inches to 4 inches and so on. It is used to scrape and coat small pieces of furniture or large surface furniture.

Horn drawdown blade, also known as horn warp, is made of horns or sheep horns. It is characterized by good toughness and will not leave scratches on the surface of the wood when puttying. The width of the small horn drawdown blade is below 4cm, the medium is 4~ 10cm, and the knife edge is above 10cm. Large drawdown blade. When choosing, it is better to have a certain transparency, clear texture, flat board surface, flush knife edge, thick top and thin bottom.

Rubber drawdown blades are made of rubber with oil resistance, good solvent resistance, fine gum and large glue content, sandwiched in a harder wooden handle. Mostly homemade by the operator. A groove corresponding to the thickness of the rubber plate can be sawn at the end of the wooden handle first, and then the rubber plate can be bonded in the groove with raw lacquer or nitro paint. Usually several specifications of rubber drawdown blades are prepared according to the size of the surface to be scraped.

The steel plate drawdown blade is made of thin steel plate or light aluminum alloy plate with good resilience inlaid in the wooden handle.

There are two main scraping operations: partial inlay repair and full scraping. The former is to repair local defects such as insect eyes, nail holes, cracking, etc. on the wood surface with putty. The latter is to scrape the entire surface with hole-filling colorant or filling paint.

The purpose of local inlay repair is to level the local holes or ballast on the surface of the wood. When inlay repair, the putty should not be picked too much, and there should be no excess putty around the inlay repair part, and the inlay repair part should not be enlarged. Considering the cissing of the putty after drying, the defective part can be made up slightly higher than the surrounding surface.

Full scraping is scraping the entire surface of the wood, although so. In the transparent coating process, the purpose and requirements of the hole filling process on the surface of the coarse-hole wood and the opaque coating process are different. The former is to fill the cut pipe holes on the surface of the wood with hole filling agent, and no excess hole filling agent is allowed to float on the upper and lower surfaces. The latter requires a thin layer of filling paint on the entire surface.
