Cause Analysis and Countermeasures of Uneven Color of Film Flash Paint

1. Uneven tone and low gloss of flash paint

Glitter paint is a high-decorative paint with unique decorative effects, which has high technical requirements for construction technology, and improper construction is prone to defects such as uneven color tone and poor flash effect.

(1) The content of aluminum powder in the paint is too low, and the hiding power is poor; the film-fixing ability of the paint is poor; the surface drying time of the paint is too long.

(2) The base paint is sprayed too thin or missed, and the base color is now exposed.

(3) The base paint is sprayed too thickly, and the thickness is uneven.

(4) The interval time of the "wet to wet" process is too short.

(5) The air pressure is too low during spraying, and the atomization is poor; or the air pressure is too high, which deforms the flake aluminum powder.

Glitter paint should be sprayed with low construction solids and construction viscosity. Use a special Spray Gun to spray evenly and thinly, with a dry film thickness of about 8µm.

Two, low gloss

This problem includes two aspects, one is that the gloss of the sprayed coating film is very low after drying; the other is the phenomenon that the gloss of the new coating film decreases after a short period of time.

(1) The miscibility of the resin in the coating is poor, and the coating film is cloudy and loses gloss.

(2) The pigment is poorly dispersed and the fineness of the paint is poor; or the pigment volume concentration of the color paint is high.

(3) The solubility of the solvent is poor.

(4) The substrate is rough and porous, and has a large amount of paint absorption. Use sealing paint for sealing treatment.

(5) The base coat is rough and uneven, or the sandpaper is too rough. Adjust the painting process parameters or use finer water sandpaper for wet sanding.

(6) The air in the drying room is dirty, or the baking temperature is too high to lose light.

(7) The top coat or single-gloss paint is too thin. Increasing the thickness of the topcoat has great benefits for improving gloss, smoothness and overall decoration.

(8) Polish and modify the finish before it is completely dry.
