Capsules and what they do

Capsule is a kind of packaging method of capsules, which is commonly used in medicine or health food. Capsules are generally made of medical gelatin, glycerin or other suitable pharmaceutical excipients alone or in combination. The main functions are:

1. Capsules can mask the bitterness and odor of medicines, eliminating unpleasant experiences for patients when taking them. Really solved the problem of good medicine bitter taste.

2. Capsules can not only protect the properties of drugs from being destroyed, but also protect the digestive organs and respiratory tract. It dissolves in the duodenum.

3. The medicine in the capsule has a prescribed dose, and the medicine powder is easily lost after peeling off, resulting in inaccurate dosage, which is not conducive to treatment.

Capsule color and function

So are the current capsules all colorful and colorful? Today's capsules are generally white or transparent on one side, while the other side has bright colors such as carmine, amaranth, lemon yellow, and bright blue. The color of "beautiful flowers" mainly plays the role of beauty and identification. The coloring of the capsules is firstly to cover up the bad appearance and make people more acceptable from the senses, especially for children, the colorful capsules make them less afraid. Secondly, pharmaceutical companies produce many kinds of capsules at the same time, and it is easy to confuse them all with one color, while different colors are easier to identify.

     Application of Colorimeter

Because of the colorful colors of capsules, it is common to have color difference problems, and the inspection of color difference is also an important step in the quality inspection of capsule products. It is not only necessary to test the color difference between the same batch, but also to test the color difference between different batches and different workshops. At this time, the Colorimeter will appear as the protagonist of the quality inspection. There are two methods for detecting capsule color difference.

Method 1: Choose a Spectrophotometer CS-600A with a general caliber. Cut the capsule to the test port for measurement, select one of the batches or samples from a workshop as the standard sample, and the rest as samples, measure the L, a, and b values, and then measure the best and worst.

Method 2: Use a Spectrophotometer CS-600B with a caliber of 4mm. Put the capsule directly on the test port for compaction to avoid light leakage affecting the accuracy of the data, and turn on the camera to find the view, making it easier to find the measurement position. Then measure the color difference in the same way as method one.
