Airspraying characteristics and precautions

Features of Air Spray

Air spraying was originally a coating method developed for quick-drying paints such as nitro lacquer. For paints that are not well applied by brushing, spraying can often achieve good coating results. The specific performance is:

1. High coating efficiency

It can spray 150~200m2 per hour, which is 8~10 times the efficiency of brushing process.

2. Thin and uniform coating film

Smooth and flat, good decorative appearance. It can evenly and completely paint the holes, gaps, slopes, twists and turns, and uneven complex structures of the object to be painted, which is impossible for any other painting method.

3. Strong adaptability

Coatings with different properties and workpieces of different materials and shapes can be sprayed, and it is not limited by the site. From large vehicles, marine machinery and equipment to ultra-small toys, arts and crafts products, different types of Spray Guns can be selected. Go ahead and spray. Especially suitable for quick-drying paint application.

However, its shortcomings should also be avoided and overcome during use, mainly:

1. The amount of diluent added during construction is large

Since air spraying is not suitable for high-viscosity coatings, a large amount of organic solvents should be added to dilute the coatings during construction to reduce the viscosity. Therefore, a large amount of organic solvents volatilize during construction. On the one hand, it causes air pollution, the working environment is harsh, and affects the health of workers. On the other hand, there are flammable and explosive safety hazards. Therefore, a good ventilation environment must be ensured during operation.

2. The paint utilization rate is low

Generally, only 50%~60% of the paint is used. When spraying small workpieces, the paint utilization rate is even lower (often only 15%~30% of the paint is used). In order to prevent the deterioration of the working environment caused by the scattered paint mist, Mass production should be done in a closed paint booth.

3. There are many levels of construction

Since the coating film formed by spraying is very thin, it needs to be sprayed several times to achieve a considerable coating thickness.
