Color matching must first choose the color paste.
The color of latex paint for interior use can be freely selected, because the indoor ultraviolet rays are very weak, and there is no degradation such as rain, so color retention is not a problem.
The color paste for external latex paint should try to choose a color paste with good light resistance and weather resistance, preferably with a light resistance of 8 grades and a weather resistance of 5 grades, and maintain high light resistance and weather resistance after dilution, because latex paint When color matching, the pigment concentration is often relatively low. At the same time, most of the base surfaces painted with architectural latex paint are cement mortar and mixed mortar plastering layer with strong alkalinity, and the alkali resistance of the color paste also needs to be considered. Such as inorganic color paste and Oujing series color paste can meet this requirement. In addition, for the same color, dark colors have better color retention than light colors. That is to say, for some color pastes with poor color retention, it can be used with dark latex paints, but it cannot be used to produce light-colored latex paints.
Color paste should be stable, including storage stability, color stability and color strength stability. For automatic color matching systems, color stability and color strength stability are especially important.
The color paste should have good compatibility with the latex paint to be matched, without flocculation and color floating. This mainly means that there is no negative interaction between the colorant additive and the latex paint additive to be matched. When the compatibility is not good, it can be solved by choosing a color paste with good compatibility or changing the additives of latex paint.
Colorants should be as environmentally friendly as possible. Low volatile organic compounds (VOC), low heavy metal content, formaldehyde content meets the requirements, does not contain 'Alkylphenol Ethoxylate (APE〇), this type of surfactant can interfere with human endocrine, use propylene glycol instead of ethyl alcohol diol, etc.
The color paste should also have a reasonable performance-price ratio.
At present, most latex paint manufacturers use two kinds of all-white latex paint color matching method and basic paint color matching method. The so-called base paint color matching method refers to the production of white latex paint and transparent latex paint (also known as base paint) by latex paint manufacturers. Transparent latex paint refers to latex paint that does not contain titanium dioxide and other pigments with hiding power. Use white latex paint and color paste to match light color paint, use transparent latex paint and color paste to match dark color paint, and use white latex paint with different proportions. Match the same color paste with transparent latex paint as medium color paint.
When using transparent latex paint and color paste to match dark paint, in addition to paying attention to the correct color matching, you should also pay attention to whether the hiding power of the dark paint meets the requirements, especially when matching bright dark yellow paint and deep red paint. For dark paint, although the national standards GB/T9755 and GB/T9756 do not specify the index requirements for the contrast ratio, it is necessary to meet certain hiding power requirements in actual use. When the hiding power does not meet the requirements, it can be adjusted with titanium dioxide paste and white latex paint containing titanium dioxide.
Many medium and small latex paint factories are accustomed to using the all-white latex paint color matching method. Using white latex paint to match dark or even medium-colored latex paint requires adding a large amount of color paste to achieve a certain degree of saturation. The result is: adding a large amount of color paste will greatly increase the cost of color matching, while the performance of latex paint will decline.
