An Huanjun, Zhang Shuling, and Zhao Chunhua from the Metrology and Testing Center of Harbin Electric Machinery Factory Co., Ltd. introduced in the "Analysis of the Applicability of the G-type Leeb Hardness Tester in Testing" that they have used the G-type Leeb Hardness Tester to measure the deviation of the value of low-strength steel plates. Low, resulting in high failure rate of materials, experimental research was carried out, using Brinell Hardness Tester and Leeb Hardness Tester to test and compare steel plates with different thicknesses.
The influence of impact energy and indentation volume under the punch on the hardness was analyzed in the experiment. Results The unqualified S355J2G3 steel plates tested by the G-type Leeb Hardness Tester on the surface were all qualified by the bench-top Hardness Tester. Finally, it is concluded that the value measured by the G-type Leeb Hardness Tester for low-strength steel plates and high-strength steel plates <20mm thick will be lower than that of the bench-type Brinell Hardness Tester.
