Pigment is a very important class of chemical raw materials, widely used in coatings, inks, plastics and other industries. It is roughly divided into inorganic pigments and organic pigments, and iron oxide is called "a very good coloring inorganic pigment". my country is a big producer of iron oxide, with a large output and many varieties. The international market's dependence on my country's iron oxide pigments has reached 35%-40%, occupying an important position in the world. Then the color quality control has become an important issue that needs no repeating.
In the entire iron oxide industry, color quality control almost all uses Colorimeters imported from the United States, which are expensive and troublesome for warranty. The good news is that after testing, the desktop Spectrophotometer of Color Spectrum is almost the same as the imported data, and the price is cheap and the warranty is convenient. (For this test, the instrument selected is the desktop Spectrophotometer CS-800.)
Test method one
It is necessary to use ink to make powdered iron oxide into a slurry, and spread it evenly on the white paper. In order to keep the instrument measurement clean, it is necessary to use another piece of white paper and cut out a small hole (about the size of the Spectrophotometer CS -800 aperture size) to cover the part to be measured on the white paper that has been smeared with the sample, and finally place it on the measuring port of the sub-Colorimeter for measurement. Finally, compare the color difference with the sample provided by the customer.

Test method two
Using a circular cuvette, scoop out the adjusted slurry and put it into the cuvette, and place the cuvette in the measuring port for measurement. Finally, compare the color difference with the sample provided by the customer.

result
The comparison data with imported instruments is as follows, with pictures and truth. (such as the method 1 picture and the following table)
| L | a | b | ΔE | |
| Imported instruments | 72.22 | 14.21 | 43.55 | 0.89 |
CS-800 | 72.10 | 14.03 | 42.52 | 0.81 |
