What are hydrocarbon-based greases?
Hydrocarbon-based grease is a type of grease made of mineral oil thickened with macromolecular hydrocarbons such as paraffin wax, wax paste, ozokerite wax, and polyethylene wax. The preparation of hydrocarbon-based grease generally does not require chemical reactions, but only a physical dispersion process.
Due to the low melting point of the thickener of hydrocarbon-based grease, its dropping point is usually only 50~100°C, and thickeners such as paraffin, ozokerite or wax paste will solidify and precipitate at low temperatures, so the operating temperature range of hydrocarbon-based grease narrower. In addition, hydrocarbon-based grease has a certain degree of hydrophobicity.
Hydrocarbon-based grease is mainly used for:
1) Utilize its water-repelling properties, it can be used as anti-rust grease;
2) Paste substances prepared with base oils and waxes that meet hygienic standards can be used in skin care products, head waxes, and even made into ointments.
