Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge Daily Maintenance Precautions

Ultrasonic thickness measurement is a widely used non-destructive testing technique used to measure material thickness from one side of the material. It is widely used and easy to operate, but it must pay attention to the maintenance and maintenance of the instrument in use in order to play a better role.

  1. Cleaning of the thickness test block

Since the random test block is used to calibrate the instrument, coupling agent needs to be applied, so please pay attention to rust prevention. Wipe the random test piece clean after use. Don't get sweaty when the temperature is high.

If it is not used for a long time, a little oil should be applied on the surface of the random test block to prevent rust. When it is used again, wipe off the oil and then it can work normally.

  2. Cleaning of the casing

Alcohol, diluent, etc. have a corrosive effect on the casing, especially the window, so when cleaning, just wipe it gently with a small amount of water.

  3. Probe protection

  a. The surface of the probe is made of acrylic resin, which is very sensitive to redrawing on the rough surface, so it should be pressed lightly during use. When measuring rough surfaces, minimize the scratching of the probe on the working surface.

  b. For conventional probes, the surface of the measured object should not exceed 60°C, otherwise the probe cannot be used. The adhesion of oil and dust will cause the probe cable to age and break gradually, and the dirt on the cable should be removed after use.

  c. When plugging and unplugging the probe, you should hold the movable sleeve of the plug and force it along the axial direction, and never rotate the probe, otherwise the cable will be easily damaged.

  4. Battery replacement

After the low voltage indicator appears, the battery should be replaced in time, as follows:

  a. Open the battery cover

  b. Take out the battery and put in a new battery, pay attention to the polarity

  c. When the instrument is not in use for a long time, the battery should be taken out to avoid battery leakage and corrosion of the battery box and pole pieces.

  5. Strictly avoid collision, moisture, etc.
