Instructions

The instrument is better placed to work in a semi-dark room. The operation steps are as follows:

1. Insert the plug of the light source into the 220 volt AC power supply.

2. Place the sample to be tested in the center of the table glass.

3. Rotate the sample so that the interference color with the highest brightness appears in the field of view (the sample without stress, no matter how it is rotated, will always be purple in the field of view, and the sample with stress will appear two kinds of interference colors with the highest brightness when rotating. ).

4. Determine the size of the optical path difference R according to the interference color look-up table (page 3) or the standard sheet.

5. The grade of glass is determined by the R/d value.

Instrument maintenance

1. The instrument should be placed in a ventilated and dry place. Polarizers should be moisture-proof and moisture-proof to avoid deterioration and fading.

2. The polarizer should be protected from excessive heat. The continuous use time of the instrument should not be too long. If the time is too long, it should be stopped for 15-30 minutes, and then used after cooling down or cooling down inside the instrument. It is better to use a fan to cool the instrument to prolong the service life of the polarizer.

3. The working surface of the instrument is made of glass with minimal stress. When the tested piece is placed on the working table, it must be handled with care so as not to scratch the glass on the table. In case of damage, you can't just replace it with stressed glass. Otherwise, the measurement accuracy of the instrument will be affected.

4. The instrument should be wiped with soft velvet, and covered with a plastic sleeve after use.

Instrument common faults

1. The polarizer has faded and deteriorated, and the sensitivity has dropped significantly. The solution is to replace the polarizer.

2. The position of the full-wave plate moves, and the sensitivity decreases. At this time, the cover plate (9) can be unscrewed, the fastening screw on the right can be loosened, and the full-wave plate can be rotated until the brightest purple-red color appears in the field of view.

3. The position of the analyzer moves and the sensitivity decreases. At this time, the full-wave plate can be taken out, the six fixing screws on the analyzer frame can be loosened, and the analyzer can be rotated to adjust the field of view to the position orthogonal to the polarizer.

4. The field of view illumination is uneven. The lampshade can be removed, the pressure ring and four screws can be loosened, and the light source can be adjusted left, right, up and down until the illuminance is maximum and uniform. When adjusting, it should be noted that the plane of the light source filament should be perpendicular to the optical axis.
