Test-grade tinplate sheet, also known as tin-plated tinplate sheet, coating test tinplate sheet, is the substrate for laboratory coating film proofing, used for experimental coating film performance testing (such as bending, impact, hardness, gloss, salt spray resistance, weather resistance etc.), which are basically used in the coating and ink industry, and the demand is very large, such as powder coatings.

Coating film performance is an important indicator of coating product quality. Inevitably, coating film performance testing is very important. In addition to the test process itself and the quality requirements of the sample, the quality of the test tinplate plate is another very important factor affecting the test results.

However, experimenters tend to pay more attention to factors other than tinplate factors, but ignore the influence of tinplate quality on coating experiments.

We all know that the tinplate sheet is used as the substrate for coating and proofing, and we need to apply the paint on the iron plate for performance testing. Tinplate sheet is a kind of tinplate, which has a specific hardness value, and also requires a smooth and clean surface, which has a better effect on the coating film.

But if it is the following three situations, do you know what kind of impact it will have on the test results, and are you really satisfied with the coating effect?
1) What if the amount of tin plating on the tinplate sheet is too large or insufficient?
2) If the tinplate sheet hardness/thickness is not enough or too hard?
3) What if the surface of your tinplate sheet is not properly treated, the surface is not smooth enough, or even has burrs on the edge of the iron sheet?
Obviously, all problems have a common result - affecting the results of your detection, or even drawing conclusions that are not reliable enough.
First of all, tin plating is to improve the corrosion resistance of the tinplate. If the amount of tin plating is too small, the corrosion resistance of the tinplate is not enough. If the amount of tin plating is too thick, it is easy to react with the air, and the formed oxide layer is too thick, which will lead to poor adhesion of the coating film coated on the tinplate.
Second, the appropriate hardness and thickness of the tinplate sheet will increase the test pressure of the technicians for the coating performance test, such as impact test and bending test, and will also affect the judgment of the test result.
Finally, if the surface of the tinplate plate is not properly treated when it leaves the factory, the workmanship is rough, and the surface is not smooth, then first, the adhesion of the coating film will deteriorate. Second, the hardness test and gloss test basically require the surface of the coating film to be smooth to avoid the influence Test result data. In addition, the experimenters also need to spend more energy on the surface treatment of the tinplate. Not to mention that if there are burrs on the edge of the iron sheet, it may directly hurt the operator.
In response to the above problems, the Northern and Southern Tide have also carried out specific experimental tests on this.
Test materials: After standard surface treatment, tinplate sheet A1 with tin plating amount E4, tinplate sheet A2 with too high tin plating amount, and tinplate sheet A3 with rough surface .

The following is a picture of the experimental results of the northern and southern tides on three different tinplates.
1. Comparing the coating effects of A1 and A3, we can clearly see that due to surface treatment, rust and impurities, the coating adhesion is not good, and some areas are still peeling off.

2. For A2, we did a cross-cut test, and the entire coating fell off. Because the tin plating of the tinplate itself is too high, after long-term storage, the tin plating and air oxidation form an oxide layer, which affects the adhesion of the coating. .

Obviously, non-standard tinplate sheets have a great impact on our performance test experiments. So the danger cannot be ignored! ! !

The editor uses experience to tell you: the tin plate that meets the standard is tested, it is good!
At present, the country has clear standards that stipulate what kind of test-grade tinplate sheets are standard.
GB/T 9271-2008 "Standard Test Panels for Paints and Varnishes" (equivalent to ISO1514) makes the following regulations on test grade tinplate:
The standard test grade tinplate should meet the requirements of the GB/T2520-2000 standard (the amount of tin plating is about 2.8). Nominal thickness 0.2mm~0.3mm, hardness value T52 (tinned evenly on both sides). Surface treatment is required before the tinplate test, and the test plate is treated by grinding.
Note: The surface treatment of the tinplate plate is to remove oil, impurities, etc. on the surface, so as to make better coating proofing.
Therefore, the amount of tin plating on the surface of tinplate, hardness and surface treatment are three important factors for the quality of tinplate, and are also the most important factors affecting the test results. Generally, regular tinplate manufacturers must test the amount of tin plating, hardness, and surface treatment of the tinplate before leaving the factory. (The following is a formal tinplate factory inspection manual)

An enterprise's requirements for product quality inspection also reflect the quality of the enterprise's products to a certain extent. Good test results play an important guiding role for better products!
