In another instance, a hotel boiler kept falling. He discovered a problem in a monitoring system; a sensor was measuring the temperature improperly, causing the boiler to shut down at the wrong set point. This is happening because the energy saving sensors are not being installed in the correct part of the system.

Miller was first introduced to the data logger three years ago at a seminar held by Marriott's construction engineers. Since then, he's used it for a week every few weeks. Next, he plans to use their energy monitoring capabilities to assess building energy savings, another commonly used device.
