John was a sleuth in his facility management job what served as director of engineering for Marriott's Southern California hotel cluster. When a plumbing, heating or cooling, accident occurs at one of the 13 hotels under his supervision, it's Miller's job to identify the problem and protect the comfort of guests. The comfort of rooms is the priority of Marriott International, and it has been ranked as the most admired company by Fortune Magazine in the world for several years.

While Holmes found clues with his magnifying glass, Miller's favorite equipment management tool was a HOBO® Onset data logger, a small, portable electronic box that can gather a wealth of information about a building's inner workings, including lights, performance tubes, heating coolers, coolers, wires, appliances. The battery powered unit contains a microprocessor, memory and sensors to measure temperature, humidity, light and other parameters U12-012. Highly portable, data loggers can typically be deployed anywhere and leave the building unattended for days, weeks, and months, collecting data that can be downloaded into software that provides hard analysis, not just opinion, about the source of building system problems.
No hot water is not acceptable for Marriott guests. So, Miller believes in relying on his own equipment management tools, such as data loggers, to rule out plumbing water flow. For example, there is a situation where the water in a hotel gets inexplicably cold on a certain day of the day, losing pressure. then there is no reason
We didn't know what was going on," Miller said. "So we connected pressure sensors T-ASH-G2-100, T-ASH-G2-200, T-ASH-G2-500 and temperature sensors TMC1-HD, TMC20- HD, TMC50-HD, TMC6-HC, TMC6-HD, TMC6-HE and data loggers and monitoring systems for specific floors. Because we are able to put temperature loggers anywhere on the system, it's really beneficial in tracking and isolating flow and temperature problems in a distributed system. "Onset's HOBO U12-001 (UX100-001), U12-006 (UX120-006M), U12-008, U12-012, U12-013 (UX100-023) data loggers, a specific one for the Miller separation problem floor. Then he took the data logger and that floor pipe and measured the water flow pressure. He found a defective flow reducing valve.
But Miller didn't stop there. He also installed a data logger to analyze the city's water supply and found problems beyond the hotel. The city's water supply drops in pressure, repeated, short dashes, and the hotel's shoddy valves can't make up for the sudden dips. Miller submits the data logger's findings to the city, which then makes the necessary repairs to the system.
In another instance, a hotel boiler kept falling. Miller again set U12-001 (UX100-001), U12-006 (UX120-006M), U12-008, U12-012, U12-013 (UX100-023), U12-011, (UX100-003, UX100-011 ) data logger to measure the temperature change in the boiler as well as in the remote control and monitoring system. He discovered a problem in a monitoring system; a sensor was measuring the temperature improperly, causing the boiler to shut down at the wrong set point. This is happening because the energy saving sensors are not being installed in the correct part of the system.
Miller was first introduced to the data logger three years ago at a seminar held by Marriott's construction engineers. Since then, he's used it for a week every few weeks. Next, he plans to use their energy monitoring capabilities to assess building energy savings, another commonly used device.
He particularly appreciates the hoboware® graphing and analysis software BHW-PRO-CD for graphing and analyzing data acquired with HOBO loggers. "It's easy to use. That's one thing I really like about hair products, unlike some that are others on the market.
Onset offers several types of data loggers, custom built for special purpose buildings or facility managers. Hobo, for example, the UX100-003 (old model U10-003), provides a low-cost way to monitor multiple locations. HOBO U12-001 (UX100-001), U12-006 (UX120-006M), U12-008, U12-012, U12-013 (UX100-023) U12-011, (UX100-003, UX100-011) U12- 015-02, U12-015, U12-014
Provides large amounts of memory for long-term deployments. Miller said he used "like a toolbox item.
