How to buy a Stormer Viscometer?

How to choose a Stormer viscometer? Picture 1

The Stormer viscometer is suitable for the provisions of the national standard GB/T265 "Petroleum Products Kinematic Viscosity Determination and Dynamic Viscosity Calculation Method" and the national industry standard SY/T5651 "Petroleum Products Kinematic Viscosity Tester Technical Conditions". Determination of the kinematic viscosity of liquid petroleum products (referring to Newtonian liquid) at a certain constant temperature.

Stormer viscometers can be purchased from the following aspects:

Measuring range

The test range of the Stormer viscometer varies with different models, and the viscosity of the sample should be used as the main point of choosing a viscometer.

How much sample size

Usually, the samples with low viscosity are more tested, and the samples with high viscosity are less. The required sample volume is 200-450ml. If the amount of sample to be measured is very small, a model with a small amount of sample adapter can be considered.

Auto scan function

For frequently testing samples with unknown viscosity or requiring a higher degree of instrument automation.

how much speed

Different types of viscometers may have different speeds (divided into 4, 8, 9, 18 gears). The 4th gear corresponds to 6, 12, 30, 60 rpm; the 8th gear corresponds to 0.3, 0.6, 1.5, 3, 6, 12, 30, 60 rpm; the 9th gear corresponds to 0.1, 0.3, 0.6 . 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 rpm. Sometimes, both the 8th gear and the 18th gear can reach a range of 2 million, but if the number of gears is small, the measurement range allocated to each gear will be large, and the relative error of measurement will also be large. In addition, different rotational speeds are combined with different rotors to produce different shear rates. For non-Newtonian liquids, the viscosity is different at different shear rates. The more gears of rotational speed, the more shear rate is provided, and the more sample information in this respect can be obtained by the user.

  The Stormer viscometer is a testing instrument used to measure the viscosity of paints and other coatings expressed by KU value. The instrument can display the KU value representing the viscosity of the tested sample or the load value (unit: g) associated with the KU value.

  Operation and use of Stormer viscometer:

  1. Take the instrument out of the box and place it on the workbench;

  2. Take out the stirring paddle from the packaging box, insert it into the sleeve of the rotating shaft, and fix it with the tightening screw. Note that the tightening screw should be on the flat mouth of the stirring paddle;

  3. Plug in the power plug, turn on the power switch at the rear, the system starts self-test, after the system self-test is completed, it enters the standby state, and the display shows "――――";

  4. Put the sample to be tested into the container that comes with the instrument, and the liquid surface is about 10mm away from the container mouth;

  5. Put the container of the sample to be tested on the container seat, and select the unit of measurement ("KU" means to display the KU value of the sample to be tested, "gm" means to display the load value). Press down the lifting handle, immerse the stirring blade into the sample to be tested, the marking line on the stirring blade shaft is flush with the liquid level, and the instrument starts to run automatically;

  6. After a few seconds, the display will display the viscosity value of the sample to be tested, and it can be read at this time. (The sample to be tested needs to be stirred for a few seconds to reach a dynamic equilibrium. The data displayed at this time can be considered accurate. Before the data is displayed, the instrument will display “—————”)

  7. After the Stormer viscometer has finished measuring, lift the lifting handle to a high position, and there is a limit device near the highest position, which can keep the instrument at this position all the time. The instrument stops rotating and enters the standby state again;

  8. The built-in intelligent display stabilization program of this instrument makes the readings of each measurement stable and unchanged, which is convenient for the operator to read. To measure different units of measurement, there is no need to stop the machine, just switch the selector switch to the position of the unit of measurement you need;

  9. There is a HOLD switch on the stormer viscometer panel. Turn the hold switch on (downward) during the measurement to lock the data of the sample to be tested, and you can choose different measurement units for conversion for recording. The instrument has the function of holding memory. When the hold switch is turned off (upward), if you want to retrieve the previous measurement reading, you only need to turn on the hold switch to retrieve it. To re-measure, the hold switch needs to be turned off.
