Types of Stainless Steel Hardness Tests

In order to test the hardness of stainless steel, there are many procedures, but the common one is indentation test, in which diamond is used to check the resistance of stainless steel.

Vickers test

 In this test, pyramids made of diamonds were used.

A force of about 1 to 100 kg. Gradually applied to stainless steel.

Only apply for about 10 seconds, due to the amount of pressure, a dent will appear.

Then, count this mark with the help of a magnifying glass and record the reading in a register or on paper.

Brinell test

Used in this type of test steel itself.

A steel ball with a diameter of 10mm is placed on the stainless steel, and a weight of 3000kgf is applied.

Because of the small diameter of the ball, apply this weight continuously for 10 to 15 seconds, creating a small indentation.

This can be seen with the help of a microscope.

Then, it helps to calculate the indentation and Brinell hardness value of stainless steel.
