Frequently Asked Questions about QNix ® 9500 Coating Thickness Gauge Equipment

Common problems of Nix QNix®9500 coating Thickness Gauge equipment with picture 1

1. What is the difference between modular and integrated models?

Modular is the split model, while the integrated model is the built-in probe type.

The QNix® 9500 is available in Basic, Advanced and Advanced+ versions, divided into all-in-one and modular probe versions.

In built-in models, the probe is permanently installed in the handheld and cannot be removed. Therefore, it is not possible to replace the probe or connect the probe adapter cable.

Modular models allow the probe to be removed from the handheld. This allows the probe to be replaced or the probe adapter cable to be connected. Modular Handheld Coating Thickness Gauge with extended probe range.

Tip: You can identify the integrated built-in models by the black probe housing and the modular remote models by the gray probe holder.

2. Does the modular split model include a measuring probe?

No, for the modular model, the measurement probe is an item of purchase. The modular QNix® 9500 is shipped without measuring probes. However, thickness probes are usually ordered together.

Note: Measurements are not possible without measuring probes.

3. What is the difference between Premium and Premium+?

The QNix® 9500 Premium+ features increased storage capacity and the ability to create 100 jobs with 100 zones each. QNix® 9500 Premium only allows 1 job, up to 100 zones.

If you want to record a large number of measurement tasks, the QNix® 9500 Premium+ has a great advantage, because you can create up to 100 measurement tasks (jobs), each with 100 subcategories (areas). Each subcategory (area) can have up to 10,000 measurements. This opens up countless possibilities for recording measurement results in a handheld device and subsequently evaluating them on a PC.

Additionally, Premium+ offers the following pre-configured tweak and limit settings:

Adjust settingslimit setting
ISO 19840 Zero OffsetISO 19840
ISO 19840 2 pointsSSPC PA2 (80/120) (Grade 1-5)
SSPC PA2 Zero OffsetIMO PSPC (90/10)
SSPC PA2 2 points

Kind tips:

You can preconfigure and name individual jobs and zones using the PC software. You then transfer these preconfigurations from the PC software to the handheld.

You start the next area by clicking the freely assignable Q key on the handheld.

4. How to find the version that suits your needs?

The first question you should ask yourself is whether you want to record and evaluate measurements. If you answered yes to this question, the QNix® 9500 Premium or Premium+ is the right choice.

If you want to save measurements in other folders (jobs) on the device, QNix® 9500 Premium+ is recommended.
