Improvement of the use of Water Baths

The Water Bath is a common equipment in the laboratory , and the force system is often used for the determination of total solids . Since the time required for steaming the test product is relatively long , the evaporation loss of water in the Water Bath is large , and frequent replenishment of water is required , which is very inconvenient to use . According to actual calculations , using a four-hole Water Bath will evaporate 1500m of water per hour under boiling conditions . Therefore , in order to avoid burning the Water Bath , water should be replenished regularly during use , but this will cool down the Water Bath and affect the evaporation speed . In order to solve this problem , a continuous water supply device was made , that is to open the water inlet door of the Water Bath and connect it with a piece of soft plastic .

Then , fill a 200oml flask with water, block the mouth of the bottle with the palm of your hand and pour it into a round funnel . Adjust the mouth of the flask so that it is in contact with the water surface of the funnel . When the water level drops and leaks out of the bottle mouth , the water will flow down automatically. When the water surface seals the bottle mouth, the water will stop , so that the automatic replenishment function can be achieved (see picture) . The Water Bath adopts this continuous water replenishment device , According to the test, compared with intermittent water replenishment, the evaporation efficiency can be increased by about 15% .
