Test range and usage of portable Colorimeter

The color difference test methods mainly include visual colorimetry and instrument color measurement. For instrument color measurement, the measurement range of different color difference Testers is different, so users need to choose the color difference Tester according to their own needs. The following mainly introduces the test range and specific usage of the portable Colorimeter.

The test range and usage method of the portable Colorimeter with Figure 1

Test range of portable Colorimeter

The color difference Tester is what we often call the color difference meter. According to the different measurement principles, it can be divided into a photoelectric integral color difference meter and a Spectrophotometer . The measurement ranges of the two color difference meters are different.

Ordinary photoelectric integral color difference meter is relatively cheap and more flexible in operation. It is a commonly used color measurement equipment in many fields. The photoelectric integral color difference meter integrates and measures the color spectral ability of the surface of the tested sample through the chromaticity Detector, and can directly obtain the tri-stimulus value of the target. By comparing the tri-stimulus value of the sample and the standard sample, the comprehensive calculation of the difference is very good. ΔE, it can accurately measure the color difference between two samples, so it is called a color difference meter. The color difference meter is now widely used in industrial practice. As an important means of detecting color differences, it greatly improves the efficiency and accuracy of color detection, and is an effective supplement to visual testing.

However, there are certain defects in the test of the color difference meter, that is, the color measurement accuracy of this type of instrument is directly related to the degree to which the instrument meets the Luther condition, and it is very difficult to fully meet the above conditions. In the actual color filter correction, due to the limited variety of colored glass, the instrument cannot fully meet the Luther conditions, and it cannot accurately measure the tristimulus value and chromaticity coordinates of the sample, so the industry with stricter color requirements It doesn't apply.

In addition to the photoelectric integral color difference meter, there is another instrument with higher accuracy in color difference testing that is the Spectrophotometer . The Spectrophotometer can measure the surface of objects of different shapes and materials, and is equipped with a variety of light sources inside. The light energy reflected (transmitted) by the sample is compared with the light energy reflected (transmitted) by the standard under the same conditions to obtain the sample in The spectral reflectance at each wavelength can not only give the absolute value of X, Y, Z and the color difference value ΔE, but also give the spectral reflectance value of the object, and can accurately measure each color point (10nm Or 20nm wavelength interval) "reflectance curve", so it is widely used in color matching and color analysis, so the measurement range of Spectrophotometer is wider, and the measurement results are more reliable.

However, due to differences in structure and measurement methods of different types of Spectrophotometer s, such as whether the instrument structure is "single-beam measurement" or "double-beam measurement"; whether the measurement and observation method is "0/45 degrees" or "d/8 degrees "Integrating sphere" will have a certain impact on the accuracy of color difference testing. Therefore, when we choose a color difference Tester, we must consider the measurement range of the color difference Tester and choose according to the company's own needs.

How to use the Colorimeter

There are also differences in the steps of using different types of color difference Testers. This article will introduce the use of NR10QC universal color difference meter. For other types of color difference meter products, you can refer to the instruction manual for operation.

1. Boot up

Preparations before starting up: Check whether there is battery power or external power supply.

Power on: Push the power switch to the "1" position, turn on the power, the display will light up and display the logo interface, after a few seconds, the instrument will automatically enter the standard sample measurement step, and display the L*a*b* measurement interface.

2. Measurement

Measurement positioning: The instrument can be positioned through the measurement light spot of the measurement port. The method is: enter the standard sample measurement interface or the sample measurement interface, then press the "Measurement" key and hold it, the test measurement light spot will appear, by observing the light spot and the measured To measure the alignment degree of the position of the sample, at the same time, the measurement port is close to the sample to be measured and the position is adjusted to achieve alignment.

After positioning, release the "measurement" button, the color difference meter will complete the measurement in more than 1 second, and display the color parameters of the tested sample.

Standard sample measurement: Standard sample measurement can only be measured when the color difference meter enters the "Standard Sample Measurement" interface, as shown in the figure below. color data.

Sample measurement: After measuring the standard sample, press the "Confirm" button, the instrument enters the sample measurement interface, as shown in the figure above, point the color difference meter at the sample sample to measure the sample, press the "Measure" button, the color difference The meter obtains the color data of the sample sample.

After measuring the color of the two samples, the screen will directly display the L*a*b* value and the color difference value ΔE, and you can quickly judge the color cast of the product.

The use of the general color difference meter is relatively simple. If users want to know how to operate the Spectrophotometer , they can check the article "How to use the Spectrophotometer ".

Color difference Tester lab value judgment

The color difference meter can directly display the lab value of two samples, so how to judge the degree of color difference through the Lab value?

The main application of the color difference Tester is the Lab color model, which is composed of three elements of illuminance and color-related a and b. Among them, L stands for lightness (black and white), a stands for red-green, and b stands for yellow-blue. The value range of L is from 0 to 100. When L=50, it is equivalent to 50% black. The value ranges of a and b are both from +127 to -128, of which +127a is magenta, and when it gradually transitions to -128a, it turns green; the same principle, +127b is yellow, and -128b is blue. All colors are composed of these three values alternating. By correctly judging the Lab value, you can control the color cast of the product color and prepare for the next step of color matching.
