How to Use the Adams Balance Correctly

foreword

In order to obtain accurate and repeatable weighing, please note the following points.

How to use the Adam balance correctly with picture 1

power on for the first time

When connecting the balance to the power supply for the first time, please wait at least 12 hours to ensure that the balance is fully warmed up.

In order to use the balance correctly, do not disconnect the balance from the power supply. If you want to turn it off, use the On/Off button to put it in standby. This ensures that it is not necessary to wait 12 hours each time for the balance to warm up.

use a balance

 Balance the scales. The importance of keeping the balance level at all times cannot be overemphasized for correct weighing operation: regularly check that the air bubble is in the center of the level. Then adjust and lock the feet to ensure the correct level of balance.

Always place the sample in the center of the pan to avoid possible errors.

Open the glass door of the weighing chamber only when necessary and use tweezers to load/unload the sample to be weighed to avoid contamination of the sample.

Be aware of possible static electricity, which can be caused by materials with low conductivity or moisture below 40% dry air due to the manufacture of the container. Static electricity can alter weighing results. It is recommended to use the Adam Ioniser ABI-1 to eliminate any static charge present on the substance being weighed or that has accumulated on the balance. Due to electrostatic charges, weighing results are always different and the balance is not repeatable.

Pay attention to dynamic push: the temperature difference between the sample and the sample is large After weighing, the weighing chamber will generate airflow along the sample. Colder objects appear heavier and warmer objects lighter when thermal equilibrium is reached between the sample and the weighing chamber. With dynamic push you will get results that move in one direction depending on whether the material is cold or warm.

Watch out for substances that will evaporate (alcohol) or absorb moisture (silicone gel), because with these types of materials, the weight can change constantly in one direction.

Be careful with magnetic materials as magnetic objects will attract each other and the resulting force will be misinterpreted as a load. For magnetic materials, the weighing results were barely reproducible, indicating stability, but the weighing results provided mixed results.
