Effect of Leveling Agent on Coating Properties

Author: 李琴

Leveling agents are divided into three categories.

1. Solvent type will reduce the solid content of the coating;

2. Long-chain acrylic copolymers with limited compatibility and long-chain organosilicon compounds with limited compatibility. Polyacrylates migrate to the surface, increase wetting, prevent cratering, and improve leveling.

3. Silicone leveling agent, such as silicone oil (polymethylsiloxane, polymethylphenylsiloxane) and silicone modified resin. Polyether modified silicone is not resistant to high temperature and hydrolysis. Under such conditions, it is better to modify with silicone oil and polyester, and Si-OC is not as good as Si-C. The leveling agent generally has a large molecular weight, which affects the interlayer adhesion.
