How to evaluate the dispersing capacity of a high-speed disperser?

The dispersing ability of the high-speed disperser depends on the following three points: ①The ability to wet the pigment; ②The ability to depolymerize the large particles of the pigment; ③The ability to circulate the paint.

These three abilities are often interrelated but independent of each other. Usually the paint is in a turbulent state and the wetting effect is good. In the state of laminar flow, the dispersion effect is good. Therefore, the operation of the high-speed disperser should be carried out in two steps, first wetting operation and then dispersing operation.

①Wet operation At this time, place the main shaft of the impeller in the center of the batching tank. The height and speed of the impeller should be adjusted so that the material is centered on the shaft and a vortex is formed. When the material vortex is proper, you should be able to see about 1/3 of the center of the impeller, but not lower than the impeller, and there is no popping sound caused by air mixing. Pigment particles located on the outside of the slurry should be able to be trapped in the liquid flow and drop into the vortex before making a full circle around the tank, otherwise the efficiency of the high-speed disperser will be reduced.

The pigments are gradually added into the vortex under slow stirring, because low-speed feeding is conducive to the uniform mixing of pigments and ingredients and reducing pollution. Be careful not to add it to the shaft or the tank wall. Once it adheres to it, stop stirring and scrape it off, otherwise the mixed paint slurry will contain coarse particles. As the pigment in the material increases, the consistency of the paint paste becomes larger. At this time, the position of the impeller should be increased accordingly and the speed should be increased.

② Depolymerization operation High speed should be used in the depolymerization stage, that is, a few minutes after adding the pigment, when there is no pigment powder floating on the surface of the paint slurry, the stirring is biased between the tank and the tank wall, about 1~2 times Shaft diameter to improve dispersion efficiency and eliminate dead space. Although axis offset will increase energy consumption, the dispersion efficiency can be increased by 25%~50%. Another purpose of axis offset is to prevent the paint from viscous circular motion, avoid poor paint circulation and material temperature rise Excessive and airy. The good rotational speed of the dispersing impeller for color paint slurry is about 27m/s around the blade, and the viscosity of the paint material is 100~400mPa·s. After adding pigments, the consistency of the paint slurry can reach 3000~4000mPa·s. Working down is conducive to improving work efficiency.
