Epoxy resin coating

Resins containing two or more epoxy groups are epoxy resins. The epoxy group consists of an oxygen atom and two carbon atoms to form a ring, which is highly active, so the epoxy resin can cross-link with various types of curing agents to form a three-dimensional network structure polymer. Epoxy resin coatings (code-named H) with epoxy resin occupy an important position in coating products because of their excellent properties such as strong adhesion and good chemical corrosion resistance.

Epoxy paint can be divided into three categories according to the drying method:


(1) Two-component room temperature drying coating (epoxy reaction)

These include polyamine (aliphatic amine, alicyclic amine, aromatic amine) cured epoxy resin paint, polyamide resin , resin cured epoxy resin paint, amine adduct cured epoxy resin paint, amine cured epoxy asphalt paint, Amine- cured solvent-free epoxies and polyisocyanate-cured epoxies (hydroxyl reactive).


(2) One-component drying coating

These include: epoxy phenolic resin paint (hydroxyl reaction); epoxy amino resin baking varnish (hydroxyl reaction ); epoxy/blocked polyisocyanate coating (hydroxyl reaction); epoxy amino alkyd baking varnish (hydroxyl reaction); Powder coatings (epoxy reaction), including epoxy/dicyandiamide coatings, epoxy/substituted dicyandiamide coatings; epoxy/acid polyester (Hybrid, hybrid) coatings; TGIC/acid polyester powder coatings; Other epoxy resin paints, including linear epoxy resin paint (volatile type), radiation curing cycloaliphatic epoxy resin paint, waterborne epoxy resin paint.


(3) Fatty acid esterified paint (normal temperature drying and drying)

These include epoxy ester paints (room temperature drying and drying), epoxy ester/synthetic resin composite paints, and styrene- modified epoxy paints.

The outstanding performance of epoxy resin paint is strong adhesion, especially stronger adhesion to metal surfaces, and good chemical corrosion resistance. It has good paint film color retention, stability and electrical insulation. However, bisphenol A epoxy resin has poor UV resistance outdoors, and the paint film is easy to pulverize, lose gloss, and the fullness of the paint film is not good, so it is not suitable for high-quality outdoor topcoats and high-grade decorative paints. Aliphatic epoxies can be used outdoors. Epoxy resin paint is a kind of good anti-corrosion coating, which is widely used in chemical industry, shipbuilding, aircraft, vehicles, electrical equipment and other industrial fields for coating of mechanical equipment, containers and pipelines. Environmentally friendly coatings developed in recent years , such as water-soluble epoxy electrophoretic paint, room temperature curing water-diluted epoxy resin coatings, water-based epoxy ester coatings , solvent-free epoxy resin coatings and powder epoxy resin coatings, have further expanded the scope of epoxy resin coatings.
