Thixotropic Cracking Coefficient Method for Determination of Ink Rheology

The thixotropic cracking coefficient method is also measured by a variable-speed viscometer. Generally, two speeds are used to measure the viscosity of the ink, one speed is lower and the other speed is higher. Then use the following formula to find the thixotropic cracking coefficient:

Figure 1 of the thixotropy cracking coefficient method for the determination of ink rheology

If η1=η2, it means that the ink is a Newtonian fluid without thixotropy. The greater the thixotropy crack coefficient, the greater the thixotropy.

Generally, the rotational speed of a rotary viscometer is expressed in revolutions per minute (rpm). The angular velocity can be calculated as follows:

ω=πn/30

n is the revolutions per minute of the viscometer. The unit of angular velocity is radians per second.
