What are the technical indicators of PET release film?

PET release film is a material commonly used in thermal transfer printing. The substrate is PET, which is coated with silicone oil, so it is also called silicone oil film. Regular thickness ranges from 25um to 150um. There are hot and cold tearing and matte surface, after anti-static and anti-scratch treatment, the product has good adsorption and fit.

Residual adhesion rate

The residual standing rate refers to the force of the release film after the first peeling and the second peeling. The data obtained after calculation mainly reflects the effect of silicone oil curing. The residual adhesion rate of UV-curable silicone oil is generally 100%, and the residual adhesion rate of heat-curable silicone oil is up to 90%. Most suppliers claiming 100% residual adhesion on their release liner would be suspicious.

If desiliconization occurs, the residual adhesion rate of this release film will generally not exceed 70%. The test of the technical indicators of the release film is a rather complicated project. Usually electronics factories and tape factories can only test the last few data.

Normal temperature peel force

Normal temperature peel force refers to the peel force data obtained through standard test methods at room temperature, the unit is N/25mm, which can be converted into several grams.

➢Normally 0.10N/25mm, that is, a peeling force below 10 grams, commonly known as light peeling;

➣0.20N/25mm, that is, the peeling force below 20 grams, commonly known as medium peeling;

➢0.35~0.45N/25mm, namely 35~45 grams of peeling force, commonly known as heavy peeling;

➢0.60~0.80N/25mm, that is, 60~80 grams of peeling force, commonly known as heavy peeling;

➣ Of course, there is also a peeling force of 0.03~0.04N/25mm, that is, 3~4 grams, commonly known as slight peeling;

➣ There is also a peeling force of 1.00N/25mm, that is, more than 100 grams, commonly known as overweight peeling.

Aging Peel Force

The aging peeling force refers to the peeling force data measured after aging, which is generally slightly larger than the peeling force at room temperature.

Dry silicon coating amount

Dry silicon coating amount refers to the amount of release agent coated on the material, and the unit is grams per square meter. Generally, the coating amount of solvent-based silicone oil is from 0.30 to 0.80 grams per square meter, and the coating amount of solvent-free silicone oil is from 0.80 to 1.30 grams per square meter. Necessary amateur testing equipment capability to test coat weight. The amount of silicone oil applied directly affects the peeling performance. Higher coating weight can densely cover the base paper and ensure the even distribution of silicone oil.

If the coating amount of silicone oil is low, it is easy to have leakage and other phenomena, resulting in poor peeling. Some release coating suppliers reduce the coating amount of silicone oil, resulting in heavy peeling, and produce heavy release films, which are quite dangerous when used. Reliable manufacturers realize the adjustment of the peeling force through the adjustment of the chemical formula without reducing the coating amount of silicone oil.
