Test Surface Coating Adhesion
Measuring the applied dynamic load
Record force-displacement curve
Record the resulting image
Combined with acoustic measurements
The scratch test is a test method used to characterize the adhesion of surface coatings.
The test consists of drawing a hard tool (indenter) on the surface coating under increasing load while using calibrated load cells to record the applied measurements. At critical force, the coating either delaminates from the substrate or the indenter cuts into the underlying substrate, depending on the coating properties and the indenter used.
