Aluminum aging in aluminum aging furnace is the process of changing the properties of alloys by heating. It also increases the hardness of the alloy. For each alloy that undergoes an aging process, there is a unique range of time-temperature combinations to which it will respond.
Hardening of the alloy can occur naturally over time in a process called "natural aging". Heat treatment speeds up the process to achieve the desired properties for use and is known as artificial aging. Aluminum aging furnaces are commonly used in the automotive, aerospace and transportation industries to create durable components for long-term use.
After the 6061 aluminum parts are pressed twice, the parts undergo an aging heat treatment process. Aging of aluminum 6061 is done at temperatures between 350 and 500 degrees Fahrenheit, with parts remaining in the oven for 12 to 24 hours, depending on thickness and other factors. After this aging, the part is now in T6 condition.
