The purpose of studying corrosion is to control corrosion to prolong the service life of metals, among which electrochemical corrosion is the most important research object.
The corrosion of metals in the electrolyte solution is called electrochemical corrosion. When the metal material and the electrolyte solution are in contact with each other, an oxidation-reduction reaction involving Baishan electrons will occur at the state/liquid phase interface. It causes the metal at the contact surface to become a metal high ion, complex ions to dissolve or generate stable compounds such as oxyhydrides and oxides, thereby destroying the properties of the metal material. This process is called electrochemical corrosion.
Electrolyte solution, in short, is a conductive solution, which is the basic condition for metal corrosion. Almost all aqueous solutions, including rainwater, fresh water, sea water, water dissolution of acids, alkalis, salts, and condensation in the air can constitute electrolyte solutions.
Electrochemical corrosion domains are very common. In humid atmospheres, most of the corrosion of various steel structures such as bridges, rails, municipal facilities, storage and construction, ships, and offshore platforms is electrochemical corrosion.
