Introduction

These test strips are used for the rapid and reliable determination of nitrate and nitrite in solution. The easy-to-dip and reading process of the test strip provides reliable results in less than 1 minute.

Nitrite is an unwanted by-product of cooling lubricants. It can form carcinogenic compounds. For this reason, nitrite tests are regularly performed on cooling lubricants.

In natural and drinking water, nitrite contributes to infant mortality and the death of aquatic life. The EPA Class I drinking water standard is 1 mg/L.

Nitrates are also a by-product of plant and animal biological decay. High concentrations can be used in rural and agricultural areas where chemical fertilizers are often used. In addition, industrial wastewater may contain higher levels of nitrates. The EU threshold is 50 mg/L and can be safely controlled with QuangoFiX® nitrate/nitrite test strips.

Usually different foods need to be tested for their nitrate content. Nitrates are ubiquitous in preservatives or in foods due to excessive fertilization. High levels of nitrates in food can adversely affect food quality and consumer health. Therefore, regular nitrate testing in the food industry is very important.

In addition, farmers use this experiment to control the nitrogen content in the soil to estimate the amount of fertilizer needed.

In ponds and aquariums, nitrate is often used in place of ammonia to control water quality.

The QuangoFiX® nitrate/nitrite test strips are an excellent choice for quickly and safely measuring nitrate and nitrite levels.
