The Elcometer 280 is a "handle type" spark Detector designed to make pulsed DC high Voltage spark detection safer, more convenient and more reliable than ever before.
The Elcometer 280 utilizes specialized electronics technology to detect coatings without the need to connect ground wires to the component substrate - ideal for inspecting large surfaces and pipes.
The Elcometer 280 uses high-Voltage pulsed DC technology to detect coating pores - even if the coating is wet, dirty or slightly conductive.
The Elcometer 280 sets the standard for safety in high Voltage detection - a two-stage safety switch; bright LED display and on-screen icon display when high Voltage is activated; and extended coil threads to protect the user from sparks.
Users can use a variety of probe accessories to detect porosity/pinholes in coatings up to 25mm thick.
The rugged, shockproof and waterproof design can be used even in harsh environments.
When a pore is detected, the display will flash, the LED indicator will light up, and an alarm will sound with adjustable volume.
