Introduction

Many surface coatings are susceptible to the risk of impact damage. The impact Tester allows for the definition of repeatable impact conditions. The impact Tester allows the establishment of pass/fail limits and the classification of coatings.

The instrument consists of a graduated vertical tube mounted on a sturdy base. The tube serves as a guide for the impact weight of a predetermined mass. The height at which it descends is variable. By using a locking collar, the exact same impact force can be generated for each test. Combine the weight and the indenter and hit the panel directly.

Place the test plate on the mold. The panel is securely fastened with a clamping sleeve. Lift the weight to the set height and release. Height increased by 2.5 cm (1") 1". (2.5cm) intervals until you see the coating fail. By calculating the impact energy (height x mass) and the classification of the test sample, the Tester can be used as a pass/fail test. Please refer to the relevant national standards for detailed procedures.
