Introduction

Apiezon M-4KG High Vacuum Grease is a 4KG Apiezon M High Vacuum Grease that is silicone-free and halogen-free high vacuum grease and is ideal for a wide range of high vacuum applications. Its inherent versatility is demonstrated by the fact that M grease is also frequently used for non-vacuum purposes in scientific and industrial installations and is approved for use by NATO.

Apiezon M high vacuum grease is typically used in a high vacuum environment at room temperature (typically 10 to 30°C / 50 to 86°F).Shelf life of 10 years (from the date of manufacture)

Features

Apiezon M-100GHigh vacuum grease is a silicone-free halogen-free high vacuum grease with the following characteristics:

  • No contamination issues associated with silicone-based greases, such as 'creep' or 'hold-up'

  • Provides very good lubricating properties

  • It is recommended to use at room temperature

  • The vapor pressure at 20°C is 1.7 x 10-9 torr

  • There is built-in radiation resistance

  • It has a strong 'adsorption' ability to absorb potentially harmful greases and chemical impurities on metal and glass surfaces

  • Easy to clean and remove,Can be easily wiped off with a soft, clean lint-free cloth,It is soluble in hydrocarbons and chlorinated solvents

Note: Since Apiezon hydrocarbon-based greases are insoluble in alcohol (ethyl alcohol, isopropanol) or ketones (acetone, butanone), they cannot be cleaned with these substances.

Product Applications

1. It is often used for scientific and industrial sealing and lubrication

2. Manufacture and maintenance of high-performance Vacuum Pumps

3. For analytical techniques, such as infrared or mass spectrometry, which require avoiding contamination of the sample.

4. High radiation applications

5. It is often used as a stationary phase in gas chromatography analysis.

compatibility

1) Apiezon M-type grease is compatible with a wide range of o-ring materials, including:Fluoroelastomer, silicone, nitrile (> 30% nitrile content), nylon,polyurethane, polyethylene, polypropylene;

2) Apiezon M grease has a hydrocarbon matrix, so it is not compatible with the following substances: EPDM, EPDM, butyl rubber, PVC seal.

Application of Apiezon M grease

As an ultra-high vacuum grease, it has excellent lubricating properties and radiation resistance. Apiezon M grease is used in many different applications. M greases are particularly commonly used for scientific and industrial sealing and lubrication.

Apiezon M grease is specially formulated to provide excellent lubricity while maintaining an effective gas seal, making it widely used in the manufacture and maintenance of high-performance Vacuum Pumps.

The use of silicone-free Apiezon M grease avoids the problems of 'creep' and 'hold-up', which often lead to sample contamination. As a result, it is often applied to analytical techniques such as infrared or mass spectrometry, which should avoid contamination of the sample.

Similarly, 'creep' can cause problems in the deposition of industrial paints or metals, as trace amounts of silicon on the surface can prevent the paint from sticking, resulting in poor paint. This is not the case with silicone-free Apiezon M grease.

This is because the halogen-free product Apiezon M has built-in radiation resistance. Other high-vacuum greases such as esters, silicons or halated alkanes decompose at radiation levels of 10 millidea or less. M greases maintain good lubricating properties in high-radiation applications, although there is a small increase in stiffness when irradiated with 4 to 100 megaelectron volts.

Apiezon M grease has a strong absorption capacity, especially due to other hydrocarbon molecules due to their complex hydrocarbon structure and very high molecular weight. Therefore, it is often used as a stationary phase in gas chromatography.
