The BHY-type Bakeltz indentation Tester is used for indentation testing of paints with plastic deformation behavior. It consists of a Pasteur indentation block, a precision microscope with scale and light source, and a transparent plastic marking film. The Pasteur creasing block has a double-conical creasing knife and two sharp tapered feet. Place the Pap indentation block on the paint for 30 seconds and then remove it. With the help of the triangle positioning on the transparent plastic marking film, observe and read the length of the remaining indentation with a precision microscope.

Precautions:
1. The indentation time is (30±1)s.
2. After removing the indentation block, the remaining indentation length should be read within (35±5)s.
The Buchholz indentation Tester is not suitable for coatings with elastic deformation behavior because the residual indentation of elastic coatings will disappear or become very small when the instrument is removed.
