The Thermax irreversible thermometer paper is a series of temperature test labels that record the maximum temperature reached by the label.
These self-adhesive thermometer papers consist of a series of temperature-sensitive elements sealed between heat-resistant substrates with transparent windows. Each component will visibly change color when its rated temperature is exceeded. These changes are irreversible and provide a temperature history of the surface being monitored. Tags will not delaminate when removed for reference and can be attached to inspection reports for records.
The temperature-sensitive element is a color-changing indicator that utilizes the precise melting points of a series of specially purified organic chemicals to produce a unique, high-precision color-changing effect. Each temperature point uses a different compound and is manufactured individually by applying a coating containing that chemical to a special absorbent paper substrate. When the rated temperature is exceeded, the chemicals melt and are absorbed by the substrate, causing an irreversible color change.
