Cobb absorptivity Tester

It is suitable for measuring the water-absorption of various paper or Cardboard surfaces, with a test area of (100 +/- 0.2) cm ², the weight of absorbent paper is 200~250g/m ², and the absorption speed is 75mm/min.

Introduction

The COB absorbency Tester is designed according to the basic parameters and requirements specified in GB/T1540-2002 Determination of water absorption of paper and cardboard (COB method). This standard is suitable for determining the water absorbency of various paper or cardboard surfaces. However, it is not suitable for accurately evaluating the writing performance of paper or board.

Surface water absorption (Cobb) value of paper and cardboard: The amount of water absorbed by the surface of paper and cardboard per unit area under certain pressure and temperature within a specified time, measured in g/㎡. The specific formula is as follows: C=(G2-G1)×100. In the formula: C - Kebo water absorption value; G2 - the mass of the sample weighed after absorbing water; G1 - the mass of the sample weighed before absorbing water. The paper and cardboard absorbency Tester is a conventional instrument for testing the surface water absorption of paper and cardboard. It is also called the paper surface absorption gravimeter. This instrument uses the Cobb test method among various absorption test methods, so it is also called the Cobb absorbance Tester.

Applications

This instrument is mainly used to measure the amount of water absorbed by the surface of sized paper and cardboard under the conditions specified in the standard . Loose paper (such as news printing paper), unsized paper (such as blotting paper) and other highly absorbent paper are not suitable for this instrument, and other test methods and instruments should be used.
