The HI98193 is a portable DO meter with extended range up to 50 ppm and 600% saturation. The HI98193 features pressure, temperature and salinity compensation, which is critical for accurate dissolved oxygen readings. HI98193 is equipped with HI764073 polarographic dissolved oxygen probe with field-replaceable PTFE membrane cap.
Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD, biochemical oxygen consumption)
The amount of dissolved oxygen consumed by microbial metabolism is an important indicator to indirectly express the degree of water body pollution by organic matter. It is defined as: the amount of free oxygen consumed by aerobic microorganisms to oxidize and decompose organic matter per unit volume of water under aerobic conditions. , the unit is expressed in ppm (mg/L). The higher the value, the more organic pollutants in the water and the more serious the pollution.
The international standard is to measure biochemical oxygen demand by cultivating for 5 days in an Incubator set at 20℃, which is the five-day biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5).
Oxygen consumption rate (OUR, oxygen uptake rate)
Oxygen consumption rate determines the oxygen consumption rate of activated sludge to analyze whether it contains non-toxic substances, load conditions and sludge balance to better set up and control the sewage treatment process.
Specific oxygen consumption rate (SOUR)
It is a quantitative index for evaluating the stability of activated sludge in sewage treatment. It refers to the oxygen consumption per unit mass of activated sludge in unit time; SOUR is an important biochemical index in experimental studies such as microbial culture. The SOUR (respiratory intensity) of microbial cells refers to the amount of oxygen consumed by cells per unit weight in unit time.
