The HI96822 Seawater Sample Sodium Chloride Refractometer Analyzer is a rugged, portable, waterproof device that uses refractive index measurements to determine the salinity of natural and artificial seawater, seawater or brackish water intermediates. HI96822 reflects Hanna's many years of experience as a manufacturer of analytical instruments. This digital refractometer eliminates the uncertainties of mechanical refractometers and is durable and compact enough for use at home, in the laboratory, or in the field.
The HI96822 is a fast, easy-to-use optic. After a simple user calibration with distilled or deionized water, a seawater sample can be introduced into the sample well. Within seconds, refractive index and temperature are measured and converted into one of three commonly used measurement units: Practical Salinity Unit (PSU), parts per thousand (ppt), or specific gravity (SG(20/20)). All conversion algorithms are based on respected scientific publications and exploit the physical properties of seawater.
The Hanna HI96822 is lightweight, easy to use, cost effective, and extremely accurate. Able to read the three most widely used salinity units (PSU, ppt and specific gravity), it is a reliable instrument for applications.
