Introduction
The BL121 swimming pool controller is a complete system designed to maintain sanitized water quality in swimming pools, hot tubs and spas. The BL121 is available in two configurations. The basic model is in-line, allowing the probe and chemical injection fittings to be installed directly into existing pipes. Panel mount version with bypass flow sensor is also available. The bypass flow sensor allows the probe to be calibrated and maintained without having to shut down the recirculation pump.
Multi-parameter digital HI1036-1802 probe containing pH, ORP and temperature sensors and matching pins. All readings are taken within the probe and the data is transmitted to the controller via a digital connection. Both digital connections and matching pins provide stable, reliable measurements. Without these two components, electrical noise from the recirculation pump and ground loop can interfere, causing erratic readings and premature probe failure.
Built-in peristaltic chemical feed pump, proportionally controlled with adjustable flow rate. One of the pumps is used to meter acid and the other is used to meter chlorine. The effectiveness of available chlorine, measured by ORP, is inversely proportional to the pH of the water. A pool with a fixed chlorine concentration will show a decrease in ORP as the pH of the water increases.
The BL121 incorporates a dose consent feature that does not dose chlorine until the pH is first calibrated, as it is possible to have a low ORP value even if there is sufficient chlorine. The dose consent feature will prevent chemical waste and higher than desired chlorine concentration levels. For compliance monitoring, the BL121 has a built-in data logger. Measurement readings are recorded every 10 seconds, with a new recording starting every new day or when the instrument is calibrated. Data logged includes pH, ORP and temperature values, last calibration data, setup configuration and any event data.
Additional features include LED indicators for dose, meter status and service, real-time graphic display, programmable alarms and password protection. The BL121 is an all-in-one solution for automatically controlling pH and chlorine levels in swimming pools, hot tubs and spa water.
