The HI96811 Brewery Brix Refractometer converts the refractive index into sucrose concentration in weight percent, or % Brix (also known as °Brix). The theoretical basis for this conversion is the sugar analysis method provided in the International Committee for the Unified Method of Analysis of Sugar. Since most of the sugars in grape juice are fructose and glucose but not sucrose, the sugar content reading of this refractometer when measuring wine is often called "apparent Brix".
The HI96811 Winery Brix Refractometer Analyzer makes the actual measurement of refractive index simple and fast and provides vintners with a standard and acceptable method of analyzing sugar content. Samples are measured after simple user calibration using deionized or distilled water. Within seconds, the instrument measures the refractive index of the grapes. These digital refractometers eliminate the uncertainties associated with mechanical refractometers and are the choice for fast, reliable measurements.
