Principle

Digital ultrasonic Thickness Gauges generate short ultrasonic pulses from the transducer that travel from the outer surface through the inside of the material, reflect on the back or inner surface, and return to the transducer; and accurately measure the time required for this process,

to determine the thickness of a part or structure. The measured bidirectional crossing time is divided by 2 to calculate the underpass and reflection propagation paths, which are then multiplied by the speed of sound in the material.
