First, the use:

QHY Buckholz Indentation Tester (hereinafter referred to as Indentation Tester) is suitable for indentation test of single-layer coating film or multi-layer coating film of color paint and varnish. This indentatIon Meter is only used to measure the pressure resistance of plastically deformed surfaces. When an indentatIon Meter is used to apply a pressure coating film under specified conditions, the indentation length is formed. The results of the indentation resistance test are expressed as a function of the reciprocal of the indentation length. When the performance (indentation resistance) of the coating film is required to improve, the indentation resistance value increases.

Technical Parameters:

1. The whole device of the indentatIon Meter weighs 1000±5g;

2. The payload on the indentatIon Meter weighs 500±5g;

3. Reading microscope: a. Magnification 20 times;

b. The incident angle of the attached light source is greater than 60°;

c. The reading accuracy is 0.1mm.

3. Structure:

1. Indentation device

It consists of a rectangular metal block, a metal wheel made of hard tool steel with a sharp blade, and two pointed feet.

2. a measuring device

It is made up of a 20x reading microscope and is accompanied by illumination greater than 60° to produce an image on the length of the indentation.

Fourth, how to use:

1. Usual requirements

a. On a hard, flat substrate with no twist and no visible bulge on the surface;

b. Under the test load, the substrate needs not to be deformed;

c. During the test, the paint film generally shows plastic deformation, rather than elastic deformation;

d. The paint film needs to maintain a thickness of at least 10um under the load of the indentation device;

e. The paint film needs to be uniform, smooth and clean.

2. Sampling shall be carried out in accordance with GB3186.

3. The test board is made according to the requirements of Article 5 in GB9275-88.

4. Test steps

(1) Test environmental conditions

Unless otherwise specified, the test should be conducted at a temperature of 23±2°C; Performed at a Relative Humidity of (50±5)%.

(2) Indentation length determination

a. Place the paint film of the test plate facing upwards on a stable test bench plane;

b. Gently place the indentator on the appropriate position of the test plate; When placing the device, the feet of the device should first be in contact with the test plate, and then the indentator should be carefully lowered. You can mark the position of the test indentation first, so that you can find the indentation again after pressing. When picking up the device and leaving the test plate after 30±1s is placed, the indentator should be first, and then the foot of the device.

c. Unless otherwise specified, within 35±5s after removing the indentator, place the indentation position with a microscope, measure the length of the image produced by the indentation in millimeters, accurate to 0.1mm, and record the results.

d. Perform 5 tests on different parts of the same test plate and calculate their arithmetic mean.

(3) Calculation of indentation resistance

a. Modify the average number to the value of a column in the table, and use the indentation length to round the value to look up the table to obtain the indentation resistance.

b. Calculate the indentation resistance by the following formula:

100/L Chinese: L - indentation length mm

The table below shows the relationship between indentation length and indentation resistance, as well as indentation depth and coating thickness.

FAQ
QIs the price listed on the website the final cost for overseas purchases?
ANo, it isn't. This is the ex-factory price of the product in the Chinese Mainland. In addition to this price, buyers from different countries need to account for additional costs such as shipping fees, tariffs, and others. For specific regional quotes, please consult our customer service or fill out a quotation form.
QWhat is the specific process for purchasing the product?
AFirst, please click on the quotation form on the website and fill in detailed information. Our customer service personnel will then send you a quotation based on your specific country and region, confirming payment and delivery methods. Following this, we proceed with contract signing, payment, and shipment. You can then await delivery.
QWhat should I do if the instrument I purchase needs repair?
AAfter-sales repair for overseas instruments is an unavoidable issue. Our repair terms stipulate that the sender is responsible for the shipping and insurance costs incurred for the repair. Repairs within the warranty period are free, while repair costs beyond the warranty period are determined based on the actual situation.
