This standard specifies a method for determining the relative sag of base paints.
This standard does not apply to testing the sagging properties of varnishes and powder coatings.
Sampling of GB3186 paint standard
(1) Sag Tester
The instrument consists of three multi-groove coating scrapers (test range: 50-275um; 250-475um; 450-675um).
Each scraper is capable of scraping and coating the paint to be measured into 10 parallel wet films of different thicknesses. The width of each wet film is 6mm, the distance between the strips is 1.5mm, and the thickness between adjacent strips is 25um.
(2) Test board
200*120*2-3mm surface flat and smooth glass plate or other agreed test plate.
(1) Test conditions: temperature 23±2℃, Relative Humidity 50±5%.
(2) Sampling: according to GB3186;
(3) The sagging Tester and test plate should be kept clean and dry;
(4) Sampling procedures
(1) Place the test plate on the platform, place the scraper on the top of the test plate, and the scale face faces the operator;
(2) Stir the sample thoroughly, place a sufficient amount of sample at the opening in front of the scraper, hold both ends of the scraper with both hands, and make it always in close contact with the guide edge for a section, so as to complete this operation smoothly and continuously;
(3) The test plate that has been scraped should be placed vertically immediately. When placed, the strip should be horizontally maintained at the top and thick at the bottom;
(4) After the coating film is dry, observe its sagging, if the thickness of the film does not flow into the next thickness of the film, that is, the thickness of the coating film is not left, and the area within 20mm at both ends of the coating film is not counted;
Parallel experiments were carried out on three test plates with the same model. The test results are expressed in the same way as the maximum wet film thickness (in um) measured by no less than two samples without sagging.
