The NF EN ISO 1520:2007 standard specifies the Cupping test method for Paints and varnishes to evaluate the impact resistance and flexibility of coatings. In the test, the coated sample is placed in a concave mold and the coating is forced to deform by applying increasing pressure. This method detects cracking or flaking of coatings under impact or external force. The Cupping test assesses the adaptability of coatings under different conditions of use, especially for Coating applications with high flexibility and impact resistance requirements, such as automotive, industrial and home paintings. Through this test, the mass and durability of coatings can be effectively judged, and data support can be provided for the research and development and quality control of coatings.
