The NF EN ISO 1519:2002 standard specifies the bending test method for Paints and varnishes, in particular the test using cylindrical mandrel. This test is used to evaluate the flexibility and durability of coatings under bending deformation. During the test, the coating sample is bent at an angle to observe whether crazing, flaking or Miscellaneous damage occurs on the coating surface. The use of cylindrical mandrel allows coatings to be tested under more uniform bending stress and can better simulate the performance of intermediate coatings in the actual use environment. This standard applies to a variety of Paints and varnishes, especially in automobiles, furniture and industrial paintings. Through this test, the damage resistance of coatings in the event of bending or deformation can be understood, providing an important basis for the quality control and performance evaluation of Coatings.
