The GB 13452.4-2008 standard describes the ability of Paints or varnishes to prevent filamentous corrosion on steel surfaces by scratch testing. Painted panels are scratched and exposed to salt fog or sodium chloride solution in a high temperature and high humidity environment to observe and record corrosion. Tests require standardized panel, sampling and condition adjustment methods to evaluate the degree of filamentous corrosion and to evaluate the coating's protective performance based on the results.
