The ASTM D92-2012B standard specifies a method for determining the flash point and ignition point of petroleum products using a Cleveland open cup flash point tester. This method is suitable for petroleum products with a flash point between 79 ° C and 400 ° C. The flash point is the minimum temperature at which liquids form a combustible mixture and the ignition point is the minimum temperature at which combustion is maintained for at least 5 seconds. This method is not suitable for assessing fire hazards under actual fire conditions, but the results can be used for fire threat and risk assessment.
