The DIN 50977-2005 standard describes methods for non-contact measurement of coating thickness on continuously moving objects. These methods include X-Rays fluorescence method (RFV), beta-ray backscatter method (BRV) and photoelectric thermal method (PTV), which are designed to monitor the coating process in real time for immediate adjustment when the coating thickness exceeds a preset value. The standard applies to metallic coatings on metallic substrates as well as non-metallic coatings on non-metallic substrates such as gold, silver, palladium, tin, zinc, aluminium, lead and their alloys, as well as dry, powder and wet coatings. The standard ensures the accuracy and conformity of coating thickness measurements and is of great significance for quality control and industrial production.
