This standard specifies the method for the determination of iodine ion content in coal mine water by iodine blue photometry. It is suitable for the determination of iodine Ion concentration in the range of 0.1~ 2 mg/L. The water sample is added with bromine water in dilute phosphoric acid medium. The iodine ion in the sample solution is oxidized to iodate ion. The iodate ion generated reacts with potassium iodide to form iodine blue. The required reagents and instruments are listed and the steps for the determination of the sample are described.
